Tubing, is used within the casing to convey the oil or gas to the ground surface, Tubing sizes from 1.050 to 4.5 inches O.D. inclusive, wall thickness from 3.18 mm to 10.54 mm.Drill Pipe, is the seamless steel pipe used to drill the well by transmitting power to a rotary drilling tool from the surface to below ground level,the dirll pipes cover sizes form 2 3/8 to 6 5/8 inches O.D. inclusive, wall thickness from 6.88 mm to 12.7 mm.

For such connections, this International Standard specifies the technical delivery conditions for couplings and thread protection.
For pipes covered by this International Standard, the sizes, masses, wall thicknesses, grades and applicable end finishes are defined.
This International Standard may also be applied to tubulars with connections not covered by ISO/API standards.
